"Tom did a masterful job of staying very honest and evenhanded in a way that very few could do.... It is an intriguing read, and readers not familiar with the roots of the Boston/ICOC movement will find this book absolutely captivating. It deserves to become a best seller." (Gordon Ferguson, Author, Elder, Phoenix Valley Church of Christ)
"In Search of a City is a touching story, and a much needed one. Everyone in the family of the Churches of Christ or Christian Churches will benefit from the Joneses' story, although it will also resonate with outsiders to this fellowship. A fast-moving work, it is well conceived, affably shared, ably worded, and succinctly presented. The central message, unmistakable throughout the four decades it spans, lifts the spirit and enables the soul." (Douglas Jacoby, International Teaching Ministry, Athens, GA)
"Riveting... I couldn't put it down." (Ed Anton, Evangelist, Virginia Beach)
"I am deeply grateful for Tom's work on this and feel it will be benefit to many people--inside and outside of the International Churches of Christ fellowship." (Dr. Douglas A. Foster, Associate Dean, Graduate School of Theology, Abilene Christian University)
"Tom's book inspired me to have a new vision of reaching the world from my local congregation. It gave me an understanding of how God has worked thorugh the years to bring about the ICOC fellowship I now know. Men of faith went after their dreams and acted on their convictions. That is exactly what we need to be doing now as we move forward." (Keith Davis, Minister, Nashville Church)
"This is an important book, and I am excited about the perspective it will give to my own kids, let alone many who are in Restoration and other churches all over the world. Thanks to Tom for the thoughtful way he approached the topic. (Kelly Petre, teacher, Boston Church of Christ)
"Tom Jones' story is a must read for those with personal struggles as a disciple. But it is more than that. It is an account of one family's responses to numerous challenges over four decades as members of the International Church of Christ." (Dr. Thomas Olbricht, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Religion, Pepperdine University)
"I found Tom's book very interesting and thoughtful. I especially like his recommended path forward for the ICofC folks toward the end of the book." (Bob Harrington, Director of Church Planting Networks, Stadia)
"I would recommend it to anyone who needs clarity about what we were about in the ICOC and what we're still striving to attain as a movement. Tom clearly points out our mistakes without trying to "spin" them, but he also conveys the heart of what we were trying to accomplish during that time…. Overall it is a great read of Tom's journey in the Faith that will help you see that ultimately God is always in control." (Damien Charley, Youth Minister, Nashville Church)
“This book is an excellent and needed addition to our history in the Restoration Movement.” (Chuck Lucas, Evangelist, Thomasville, GA)
“Tom's autobiographical survey has filled in the blanks on some key questions describing context for the tensions between the mainline churches and the discipling movement that I could never have otherwise known. He helped recreate the drama to give us in the ICOC the behind the curtain insight into this great and complex epic that we have witnessed and been a participant.” (Steve Staten, Teacher, Chicago)

Tom Jones has written a book that is part memoir and part history. It traces the Boston Movement from the very beginning with the Campus Evanglism group in the late 1960s until now. He says he feels a special responsibility to share his story because of his perspective from the earliest days. He doesn't in any way view this book as "the" history of the movement, but it is the history from his vantage point. It is also a history of his spiritual journey as it was contained within the larger journey.
A work like this can fill in many information gaps in people's minds and can help all of us in the Restoration heritage to move forward with lessons learned, hope rekindled and grace given and accepted.
